Who can attend this program?
People between 18-29 years of age living and/or studying in the regions of the countries represented in this project. That is:
Slovenia, Goriška region
Sweden, Örebro Län
Do I need any previous knowledge of the subject?
No. We will go through basic knowledge and get a lot of inspiration and information from our educators, guest speakers and real life cooperators. If you already have knowledge, that is great too! Cooperative campus aims at group learning and experimenting which make the program suitable for several levels of knowledge.
Most important is that you find it interesting to work with ideas that may help the community, work with others, create ideas together and try out cooperative entrepreneurship!
When does it start?
Does it cost anything?
No. The program is free of charge. The only cost is the time you invest.
What will I learn?
Foundational theory of the social economy, cooperatives and sustainable business development. Focus of practical learning of leadership, teamwork and cohesion, idea and business development and practical implementation in the market. In summary – you will learn and experiment cooperation with other people. And you will visit and meet real cooperative entrepreneurs.
Will I get a diploma after the program?
Yes, all who has participated in most or many of the parts of the program will get a diploma. Apart from building your understanding of cooperative entrepreneurship, a certificate is a great thing for improve curriculum vitae and professional identity.
Does the program differs in the different countries?
Yes and no. The foundation and basics are the same in the countries, however, some parts might differ. We want to customize the program for our participants in the best way possible according to different conditions. The organizations who lead the project in the different countries have different specialties, competenses and prerequisites, to make the best of the program, we take all this in to consideration in delivering Cooperative Campus.
What do you mean with cooperation?
The meaning of cooperation is people working together to achieve results or people helping each other out to achieve a common goal.
What do you mean with Co-operative entrepreneurship?
Co-operative entrepreneurship is a form of joint entrepreneurship. Broadly speaking this means that there is more than one entrepreneur involved in the creation of a new venture or organisation.
Co-operative entrepreneurship requires the existence of a collective project, and has a triple dimension (entrepreneurial, social and cooperative). It implies commitment, work and professionalization, and it requires to learn to manage consensus, participation, decision making, negotiation, the reconciliation of collective interests with individual interests, apart from knowledge of business management, strategy amongst other parts.
Co-operatives share a set of values that give them their distinctive character: self-help, self-responsibility, democracy, equality, equity, solidarity and ethical values such as honesty, openness, social responsibility and caring for others.
It’s also aligned to the 7 cooperatives principles.
